The McBride Visitor Centre operates year round with the generous support of Tourism BC, the Village of McBride, the McBride & District Chamber of Commerce and the Regional District of Fraser Fort George. Friendly informed counsellors are available to provide travel information and detailed information on the community, region and province. We also have a wide selection of brochures, maps, accommodation guides along with vacation planners for vacation destinations throughout Canada and Alaska. There is a great selection of books, videos and DVDs as well as postcards and memorabilia. Adjacent to the Station is a park with a playground and family picnic area. A covered pavilion provides shade and the ball park across the street is a great place to stretch your legs. Parking is never a problem - buses and motor homes are welcome. Public washrooms and pay phones are available and the Station is also home to the Beanery 2 Bistro & Internet Cafe - a funky, friendly place serving delicious homemade food and great coffee in a fun atmosphere. Also in the train station is the Whistle Stop Gallery. Run by local artists and crafters, this not for profit gallery has attracted international attention for the quality and craftsmanship of the work displayed. The Gallery features original paintings, woodwork, pottery, toys, books, videos, and so much more. Take a break from the Yellowhead and stop in for a visit. You will be glad that you did! |
The McBride bears, located beside the Village Office,
were donated by family members in memory of Ian Monroe for his
contribution to the Chamber of Commerce.
